Lana Del Rey Drops Dreamy Video For “Love”

Published: February 21, 2017

Lana Del Rey has made a successful career out of releasing trance-inducing, macabre ballads that explore themes of death and heartbreak. In the 2017 political and social climate in Del Rey’s native US, her usual melancholy singles would fit right in, but with her new single and video for “Love,” Lana is giving fans hope.

Teaming up with director Rich Lee, whose most recent work includes Maroon 5 and Future’s trippy “Cold” collaboration, Lana stays true to her flower child aesthetic in “Love,” while smiling and looking happy throughout the dreamy video that jumps back and forth between earth and space.

Teens and adults fall in love and fall through the galaxy in “Love,” where cars and people float around the atmosphere as Lana and her band play a set on the moon. While the new video features Del Rey’s first foray into sci-fi, the singer’s love of grainy filters and bouffant hairstyle keeps the video from feeling totally foreign to the persona fans have come to expect.

As for the dreamy track, Lana co-wrote “Love” with acclaimed songwriters Rick Nowels and Emile Haynie, who also co-produced the new single Benny Blanco.

Lana Del Rey’s fourth studio album “Honeymoon” was released in September 2015 and featured the singles “High by the Beach” and “Music To Watch Boys To.” Del Rey was largely absent from the music scene in 2016, with her only piece of new music including her second collaboration with The Weeknd on “Stargirl Interlude” off 2016’s Starboy.

“Love” is the lead single from Del Rey’s upcoming fifth studio album, which is set to be released in 2017.
