Julia Michaels is continuing to make the transition from songwriter to singer look like child’s play. The multi-talented entertainer struck out on her own in January, releasing her single “Issues,” which she performed this year at the iHeartRadio MMVAs (watch here).
Best known for writing songs for Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber, Fifth Harmony, Britney Spears and more, Michaels has now dropped her second single with the sexy, rock-infused “Uh Huh,” showing off her musical range and holding steady at the top of our list of best new artists of 2017.
Now Michaels has debuted the music video for “Uh Huh” and is continuing to define her look and style as an artist. The provocative video shows the first few days of a relationship, with Michaels and her new partner falling in love and making her studio apartment into their playhouse. Dancing around to her new single, swapping clothes and lounging on every flat surface, the new couple spend the video getting to know one another’s back stories, love history, and creating intimate moments that will become the basis of the new relationship.
“Uh Huh” is directed by Emil Nava, with his latest video “Feels” teaming the British director up with his frequent collaborator Calvin Harris, as well as Katy Perry, Pharrell and Big Sean. Michaels thanked Nava on social media, writing, “I want to thank @emilnava for weaving my vision with his to get the video we both wanted 🙂 it was the one of the best days of my life, thanks to you!”
Nava is best known for his work with Ed Sheeran, who Michaels worked with on Sheeran’s huge 2017 Divide.
Michael’s video for “Uh Huh” isn’t her only exciting new project to be released this week. On Friday, Michaels will be releasing Nervous System, which she calls a ‘mini-album.’
“Uh Huh” marks songwriter Julia Michaels second single, with her debut track “Issues” hitting airwaves in January.
