The Chainsmokers and Halsey’s collaboration “Closer” is now tied with Drake’s dance hall track “One Dance” for the most consecutive weeks at the top of the Billboard chart this year, but throughout it’s radio reign, we’ve yet to have a video. Until now.
Chainsmoker’s singer Ben Taggert and solo artist Halsey play the role of a couple who reunite years after their break-up, with the their intense chemistry, something that was evident during the group’s performance at this past summer’s MTV VMAs, being capitalized in the new video.
The video jumps back and forth between two time periods, with Halsey and Taggert happily in bed together and then running into one another years later at a party. The two exchange a number of heavy glances, remembering and revaluating the end of their romantic relationship and concluding the video on a cliffhanger.
In addition to the new video, The Chainsmokers also announced their upcoming EP Collage on November 4, which will feature the new track “Setting Fires.”
