Go Behind The Scenes Of Taylor Swift’s ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ Video

Published: September 20, 2017

It’s been less than a month since Taylor Swift released her record shattering music video for “Look What You Made Me Do.” The pop star returned to the charts with her first solo single in two years and as always, it was well worth the wait.

Swift’s lead single from her upcoming sixth studio album Reputation, due out November 10, quickly became the most-watched music video in 24 hours ever on YouTube, beating the previous record set by Adele’s “Hello.”

Teaming up once again with music video director Joseph Kahn, (“Wildest Dreams,” “Bad Blood,” “Blank Space,” “Out of the Woods,”) the pair created a video that was full of rich imagery, including Swift surrounded by snakes and overseeing a factory of new members of her ‘squad.’ But one of the most exciting scenes of the video featured Swift standing on top of a mountain of Taylors that represented some of the biggest moments in the singer’s career. At the tail end of the video is another shot of the Taylors, this time in a lineup and taking digs at the pop star.

So, how did Swift and Kahn make the Tower of Taylors happen? A new behind-the-scenes video shows just how much work went into creating the Taylor Swift clone club.

“Okay, this is the trippiest thing I’ve ever seen in my life,” says Taylor in the video upon seeing the army of extras dressed as her. “Seeing all of them together is the weirdest feeling, but it’s awesome. It’s exciting. It’s like, ‘oh, that’s a phase I went through when I was 16, but like, a girl is wearing it and she looks just like me,’” said Swift. “We’re having a great time. We’re all just chatting about life. That’s gotta look weird.”

Wearing her ‘new and improved’ Junior Jewels t-shirt from 2008’s “You Belong With Me” video shoot, director Joseph Kahn coaches Taylor on how to look graceful while falling in her pajamas. Shooting the slow-motion scene, the popstar labeled her fall techniques as ‘Kitten Strangle Fight’ and ‘Sea Anemone.’ Joking with her longtime director, Swift said “I have to actively try not to be graceful. I don’t know if you’ve ever met me before.”

During a fight scene between Circus Ringleader Taylor and Sparkly Dress Taylor, Swift got a little too into character, screaming at her body double to ‘get out of my house.’ “I’m not sure where that came from. I have no experience with home invasion, but you know, you gotta follow the muse,” joked Swift.

“Look What You Made Me Do” has already hit an incredible 416 million views on YouTube since it was released on August 27. The song currently sits at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, with Swift’s follow-up single “Ready for It” debuting at number four.

We can’t wait to see what Swift has up her sleeve for her next music video.
