Dua Lipa Gets Soulful In New Single ‘Thinkin ‘Bout You’

Published: February 23, 2017

Known for her dance-pop hits, budding star Dua Lipa reveals a more intimate side in her latest video for “Thinkin ‘Bout You”—a bluesy ballad that shows her versatility.

The effortless track focuses on her raspy vocals, while a plucked guitar accompanies lyrics like, “This time Mary Jane won’t save me/I’ve been working later, I’ve been drinking stronger/I’ve been smoking deeper but the memories won’t stop.” Between the desperation in her tone and simplicity of the guitar, “Thinkin ‘Bout You” is a poignant serenade about longing.

In the split-screen video, understated shots of Lipa laying restlessly on her bed in a hoodie, simple makeup and gold jewelry allow her lyrics and strong vocals to take center stage.

Dua Lipa’s debut album is set to hit shelves this June, but she’s already been teasing us with singles for the past year. Check out the singer’s stripped-down version of her hit “Hotter Than Hell” below and check out her full Much Office Sessions performance here.
