Nicki Minaj has always been an artist who fans can rely on to say exactly what she’s thinking. Whether she’s rightfully boasting about being one of the best rappers of all time or taking down an artist who feels the need to publicly criticize her, Minaj keeps it 100 at all times.
That’s why her appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show this week was so entertaining. A longtime fan of the daytime talk show host and comedian, Minaj has featured Ellen in two of her tracks, including her recent single “No Frauds.”
The two friends discussed the new track, which also features the recently reunited Young Money crew of Lil Wayne and Drake, with DeGeneres relieved that for this shout-out she’s able to say the song title on daytime TV.
Never one to exhibit any chill when it comes to grilling her guests on their dating life (that’s why we love you, Ellen), the topic of Minaj’s romantic status was addressed head on. Following her 2016 split with fiance Meek Mill, it appears that Minaj is very close to making things official with fellow Queens, New York native and rapper Nas. Um, how amazing with an album from these two artists be? So amazing.
Although she tried to keep things on the down low, Ellen’s use of an 11 foot picture of the couple made it pretty difficult for Minaj to deny the romance. Minaj eventually confirmed that the two are hanging out, but did make it clear to DeGeneres and the millions of people watching the show that she plans on remain celibate. Of course, that doesn’t mean dating is off the table. Go Nicki!
While we totally love the idea of Nicki and Nas being the next heavyweight couple in music, aren’t we all just kinda waiting around for Minaj and Drake to eventually get married?
