There are just some celebrity couples that we could never forget – even when they’ve broken up. Luckily, we can always remember them and keep then close in our hearts from the music that they’ve left behind. Ironically enough, most of these are love songs. These tracks get us feeling nostalgic about these past relationships we used to ship – RIP their love. Check out some of our favourite collaborations with celebrity exes

Let Me Go by Chad Kroeger and Avril Lavigne

Ah, we miss Chavril. Chadand Avril wrote and performed this song together in 2013 for her self-titled album. Originally the lyrics were about two people drifting apart and “letting go” of each other, but as their romantic relationship grew, Lavigne changed the lyrics to reflect this. The duo got married in 2013, and separated in 2015.

Wouldn’t Change A Thing by Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas

Throwing it back to the Disney days, Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas sang this duet together in 2010 for Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam, while beginning to date in 2009. They played a couple on-screen in the movie, and in real life. But they split up, and since then, Demi Lovato’s been with Wilmer Valderrama, and Joe Jonas has been with celebs such as Gigi Hadid, Taylor Swift, and Camilla Belle.

Body Party by Ciara and Future

Back in 2013, Ciara and Future released this collaboration, which we now see as a relic of what once was. Body Party is off Ciara’s 2013 self-titled album and is produced by the singer herself, Future, P-Nasty, and Mike Will Made It. The former couple also have a child together, Future Zahir Wilburn. Unfortunately, they called off their engagement in 2014 because Future was allegedly cheating on Ciara.

Vertigo by Jason Derulo and Jordin Sparks

This song may be flirty and heartfelt, but the couple’s breakup apparently wasn’t. Rumor had it the two broke up over the phone. How awful! But with this song from 2013, you could imagine what the good times were like for this musical couple.

Where You Are by Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey

Nick and Jessica were like the prom king and queen of the early 2000s. They were the celebrity couple that everyone was cheering for, especially since they had their own MTV reality show, Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica. Before they were married in 2003, Jessica Simpson and her now-ex-husband collaborated on this song for Simpson’s 1999 album Sweet Kisses. Now, they’ve been divorced for 11 years.

No Me Ames by Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony

Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony sang this charming romantic duet together in 1999, way before they were ever a couple. This song is off J Lo’s album, On the 6. They dated other people before they got together, and Marc Anthony was even previously married until 2004 – the same year Jenny from the block and Marc Anthony married. They divorced a decade later.

Who You Love by Katy Perry and John Mayer

Katy Perry and John Mayer have been dating on and off since her messy divorce from Russell Brand in 2012. They sang this duet for Mayer’s 2013 album, Paradise Valley. The couple has since broken up. But they were spotted together again in 2015, although according to Mayer’s reps, not as a couple.

Half My Heart by Taylor Swift and John Mayer

John Mayer is known for dating an abundance of celebrity women, so it’s no surprise that he’s on this list twice! Although she isn’t present in the music video, Taylor Swift contributed some vocals in this song. It’s a bit of an unfortunate song because it’s about only feeling like you’re only putting half of yourself in the relationship. Maybe this song foreshadowed the future?

Almost Is Never Enough by Ariana Grande and Nathan Sykes

Ariana Grande and Nathan Sykes sang this song for the film The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, but it also appeared on Grande’s debut album, Yours Truly (2013). They dated for several months before breaking up the same year that Almost Is Never Enough came out in. They collaborated again early this year with Sykes song,Over and Over Again, which probably means they remained friends after breaking up.

Over You by Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton

Former country power couple Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton recorded this song for her 2011 album, For the Record. Coincidentally, this was also the same year that the couple wed. Now, they’ve split, and Shelton is linked to Gwen Stefani.

Broken by Seether and Amy Lee

Seether frontman Shaun Morgan and Evanescence’s Amy Lee dated from around 2003 until 2005. They released this song about feeling alone without your lover before they were officially dating. Once they broke up, Amy Lee wrote Call Me When You’re Sober for Evanescence’s album, The Open Door, allegedly about Morgan’s addiction. She describes it as “a chick anthem” about guys only wanting to hit you up when they’re drunk, and also said that she wants that to be the song they set for their exes ringtone on their phone.

Right There by Ariana Grande and Big Sean

Ariana Grande and Big Sean dated for eight months last year before splitting up. Right There is on Grande’s 2013 album, Yours Truly. They collaborated again on Best Mistake off of her follow up album My Everything. Apparently their split was amicable because last April, they Tweeted cryptic messages, like so:

Ariana Grande “replied” with this Tweet:

How cute!
