Only two months after their fifth album, Depression Cherry, dream pop band Beach House released their highly praised Thank Your Lucky Stars last year, and today the band’s treated us to a VHS-quality, surreal video for their song “The Traveller.”

The visuals focus on a woman in red carrying a briefcase while strutting through a series of dark passageways. The abstract ’80s film project is reminiscent of David Bowie’s “Space Oddity,” with red being the statement colour and the use of images fading into one another, which are all enhanced when backed by the dreamy music.

According to Pitchfork, the Jennifer Juniper Stratford-directed video was shot on an old television camera, processed with a video synthesizer and broadcast mixer to give it the hazy, ’80s-inspired look.

Get transported back to a time when MTV had just launched, Madonna ruled the world and neon was a way of life in the video below.
