Arkells Give A Tour Of Toronto In ‘Knocking At The Door’ Video

Published: April 21, 2017

JUNO-winning pop rock band Arkells may be quick to identify themselves by their deep love of their hometown of Hamilton, Ontario, but for their music video “Knocking At The Door,” the five-piece headed northeast to spend some time in Toronto.

It’s no surprise that the Canadian band has an affinity for the Big Smoke. Their 2016 album Morning Jacket included “Drake’s Dad,” a song about the time Arkells met Dennis Graham, and then made a music video with him.

Now, the band is again using Toronto (or Toronto-related celebrities, in the case of Graham) for their latest video, the roaring, arena-ready track “Knocking At The Door.”

Shot in Toronto, Arkells use “Knocking At The Door” as a how-to guide on where to party and play in Toronto.

First, find a sweet local coffee shop with a piano.

Make sure you check out City Hall.

There are lots of ways to stay in shape in the city, like joining a gym.

Playing hoops is also a great option.

Running through the 6ix with/without your woes is also known to burn calories.

Definitely check out the beautiful inside of Union Station.

The outside isn’t too shabby either.

Take a trip to Toronto island for the best view of the city’s skyline.

Save some time for shopping at the many independent stores in the city.

Take in the sights and sounds on the TTC.

And if you get a subway car to yourself, take advantage.

Don’t forget to hit up a rager.

Dropping the single earlier this month, “Knocking At The Door” dives into soul and jazz, while also marking one of the most rock-heavy songs from the band since their debut album. Integrating brass instruments and female back-up singers, “Knocking At The Door” is Arkells at their most cinematic, bridging the gap between genres to produce a track with a little something for everyone.

Arkells are set to take the Coachella stage for a second time this weekend, making their debut at the famous music festival during last week’s kickoff weekend. The band will continue their turn on the festival circuit, playing Festival d’ete de Quebec in Quebec City, Osheaga Festival in Montreal, Mo Pop in Detroit, Xponential Festival in Philadelphia, and Middle of the Map Festival in Kansas City. Arkells are also embarking on a tour that will take them across North America throughout the summer.

“Knocking At The Door” will be part of the Hamilton band’s deluxe edition of their JUNO-nominated 2016 album Morning Report. The new album is expected to drop this spring.
