Digital Spy has posted two unreleased tracks reportedly made during the recording of Adele’s massive sophomore album 21. The songs were allegedly recorded while Adele was working with producer Fraser T. Smith on her 2011 record, which went on to win a Grammy and Brit Award for Album of the Year.
Never Gonna Leave You is a gut-wrenchingly honest, soulful love song with a simple piano and string backing that lays the basic groundwork for the track, letting Adele’s superstar vocals take the reins. On the flip side, You’ll Never See Me Again is a track about the end of love, much closer in the vein to Adele’s hits Someone Like You and Set Fire To The Rain.
In addition to having been recorded for 21, another possibility for the origin of the leaked songs is from current recording sessions for Adele’s next album, which is rumoured to be released later this year and titled 25.
Adele has been in the studio with OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder, who has penned hits for everyone from Maroon 5, Ellie Goulding, Beyonc and even Adele herself, helping to write Rumor Has It and Turning Tables from 21.
