Joe Goddard – Ordinary Madness (RAC Mix)

Published: June 28, 2017

In April, Joe Goddard released his eclectic sophomore album, Electric Lines. For his second full-length studio output as a solo artist, Goddard – a core member of both Hot Chip and The 2 Bears – explored a tasteful variety of divergent electronic influences, ranging from the sedate to the ebullient. “Ordinary People,” the album’s opener, stands as one of the most accessible tracks from the LP, marked by Goddard’s upbeat fusion of funk and R&B production with SLO’s sultry vocalizations.

Two months after the release of Electric Lines, RAC has transformed the aforementioned single into a compelling, yet entirely different piece. For his interpretation of “Ordinary People” the Grammy-winning Portuguese producer repositions SLO’s vocals into a soothing, subdued composition. RAC’s take on the track revolves around calmative guitar lines, and subtle, balearic-inspired percussion, perhaps giving some insight regarding what to expect from his forthcoming album, EGO.
