When is the last time you looked at fish? Like, really looked? If they aren't quite as soothing and psychedelic as in the new video for Family Band's "Don't Slip Away," debuting below, maybe you just haven't been paying enough attention. Or you haven't had the right soundtrack.
Family Band, the project of Montreal siblings Josh and Talia Boguski, create a floating mix of ambient psych and moody indie rock that recalls, at the same time, the most shimmering, coherent music by Women and the most shambolic, barely-together compositions of The Unicorns.
Which is to say, if you spend enough time zoned out at Ripley's Aquarium in Toronto, as Josh Boguski (who co-runs Egg Paper Factory and plays in Telstar Drugs) and his Montreal scene allies Alex Bourque and Carolyn Hirtle did gathering footage for this video, you might just lucid dream back to the best and weirdest days of moody, cello-dusted indie rock.
Believe it.
