Of course Drake wouldn’t just let Meek Mill play Toronto

Published: July 29, 2015

Nicki Minaj's Pinkprint Tour rolled through Toronto as scheduled last night, but Meek Mill, the Philly rapper feuding with Drake over ghostwriter accusations, didn't show up for his opening spot. Instead, Minaj brought her boy out smack in the middle of her headlining set. He got moved into primetime.

Noisey says fans were excited for Mill. NOW says he was booed off stage. Either way, he finished his set with Yo Gotti's "Fuck You," the words flashing behind him. Was this his big move? Is that the best he'd do? Mill sure wasn't lying about that meek bit, eh?

And on the same night that Meek Mill and Nicki would play back-to-back in his hometown, Drake dropped ANOTHER diss track; this one, appropriately titled "Back to Back Freestyle," all about Mill riding Nicki's coattails. He posted it alongside a photo of Joe Carter hitting the home run that would win the Jays back-to-back World Series championships (incidentally against Mill's hometown Philadelphia Phillies).

Sure, Mill was right — "Charged Up" was "baby lotion soft" — but this latest attack won't be shooed off with a troll. Drake demands satisfaction. Fans want blood — metaphorical, virtual (thank god). Like he says: "Trigger fingers turn to Twitter fingers."

So this is what a rap feud looks like in the 2010s, I guess?
