Jian Ghomeshi quietly withdraws $55 million CBC lawsuit

Published: November 25, 2014

In October, Jian Ghomeshi was fired from his popular CBC culture program Q, following a string of sexual violence allegations. He has remained hidden since then despite a claim that he will "meet allegations directly", and deleted his Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Now, it seems less likely he'll emerge from his hole anytime soon: his former employer and The Toronto Star report that Jian Ghomeshi's $55 million bad faith lawsuit against the CBC has been dropped, and a settlement reached. The terms dictate Ghomeshi must pay $18,000 to the CBC "in legal expenses." But it's far from over. Toronto police are still investigating Ghomeshi, and the CBC will undergo a (dubious at best) third party internal probe.
