Chart Attack presents Universe: A Live Soundtrack Experiment, featuring Absolutely Free and Fresh Snow

Published: April 23, 2014

Like most things in vogue with music nowadays, movies with live soundtracks are impractical, yet hold a certain spiritual and sonic allure. We still buy records, andwe're strongly considering a physical subscription to Wax Poetics, so it's no surprise that we're now planning a free, all-ages live soundtrack event of our own.

On Thursday, May 15 at The Revue Cinema in Toronto, we're hosting a screening of three galacticshort filmsof our home in space, withoriginal scores, composed and performed live by a trio of local psychedelic acts: Absolutely Free, Fresh Snow, and Marcel Ramagnano. Each artistwill bringtheir ownmusical meditations from real-life images of people and planets:a montage of archival film footage from planet Earth and its inhabitants; a look at the Apollo 11 mission and man's first steps on the moon; and sublimely abstract (but genuine) satellite photography of Saturn and its moons.

Three films, three performances, one night only. It's fuelled by Pistonhead, with refreshments on sale for $4.Again,the show's free, and you can bring your child.

It's at400 Roncesvalles Avenue (just south of Dundas West station). Doors at 8:30PM, films start at 9PM sharp. We'll see you Thursday, May 15 for a unique exploration of our cosmic backyard.
