The National Post called him “Canada’s Most Creative” rapper, and Cadence Weapon has been living up to the praise. Hailing from Edmonton the rapper has now made Toronto his home base after a stint in Montreal. His connection to his home and native land shines through in his music.

In January he dropped his fourth studio album, the self titled Cadence Weapon. @BrigitteTruong caught up with Cadence Weapon to talk about the new album, his roots and the future.

Cadence Weapon is also a club curator for NXNE this year. The festival runs from June 8 – 17th in Toronto and features Music + Gaming. Sticking to the music side, Cadence Weapon curated a show at BABY G on Friday June 15th. Bound to be an intimate evening of rhythm and rhyme, the concert features sets by Myst Milano and Kimmortal. Cadence Weapon will also be performing next Friday night at 6PM for FREE at Yonge and Dundas Square.

His self-titled album is currently available wherever records are sold or streamed. For more info on North By Northeast check out their site. Oh, and did we mention that $29 gets you access to all the music at the festival. That’s less than $1 a show!
