Comedian Bo Burnham makes his feature film directorial debut with Eighth Grade, a coming of age story about a 13 year old girl navigating social media, making real life friends and the transition from middle school to high school.

Elsie Fisher (Despicable Me, McFarland) stars as Kayla, who is attempting to find her voice in her last week of Eighth Grade.

Bo Burnham is probably best known for his stand-up comedy, which typically involves a keyboard and some hilarious lyrics. The young star first found fame online via YouTube while he was still in high school.

@BrigitteTruong spoke to Bo about his unconventional (and pioneering) career, as well as the role of social media in Eighth Grade.

Eighth Grade hits select theatres this weekend it is rated 14A.
