Band 2 Band: Death Cab For Cutie talk life on Mars and an incredibly strange run

Published: March 25, 2015
Our video series Band 2 Band helps artists learn more about each other in the most natural way we could think of: by pulling questions out of a jar and asking them to each other.

Nick Harmer and Ben Gibbard of Death Cab For Cutie sat down and interviewed each other, discovering interesting things about their high school punk past, their newfound sympathy for frat guys, and the weirdest run anyone has ever been on. I'm still not sure how it's possible, but Oasis definitely were using mind control that day.

We're not going to tell Ben Gibbard that the Mars One mission is a total flop. He seems really excited to relocate his life to another planet, while continuing to beam backing tracks to his bandmates, Postal Service style. It does seem like a cool idea Ben, but we will miss you.

Death Cab For Cutie's new album Kintsugi is out March 31 on Atlantic Records. Stream it now at NPR First Listen.
