Tori Amos Gives New Life to Radioheads Tired, Old Creep

After several years of foundered attempts to rediscover her musical identity, Tori Amos fourteenth studio album, Unrepentant Geraldines,succeedsin adequately balancingher eccentricity with genuine songwriting. It isthe closest her career has come so far to a full-fledged revival. Its no surprise then as to why the newly inspired Amos is stirring up such impressive live performances as well.

In the Lizard Lounge section of her current tour, Amos has been testing her boundless artistry further with cover songs from every bend of time and genre. Among them is animpassioned cover of the long-worn-out, either-loathed-or-loved Radiohead staple Creep.

Thankfully, like she did with Nirvanas Smells Like Teen Spirit over twenty years ago, Amos covers Creep by tapping into its long-forgotten core – not the angst or the self-pity it engenders, but its shadowy, dreamlike undercurrent, both doting and ashamed, and most of all, utterly confused.
