Son Lux announced yesterday on Facebook that he has started work on the unnamed new album in Los Angeles’ Red Bull Studios. We at Antiquiet are big fans of Lanterns (2013) and We Are Rising (2011).
Brooklyn’s chamber pop indie rocker Son Lux has this sort of liturgical feel to his music. I don’t mean the stale, boring pieces you were (maybe) forced to sing as a child for your parents religion (I said maybe). With swelling choral voices and crystalline melodies lines, it’s more like galaxies colliding in deep space as their black holes howl in pain. Or ecstasy. Maybe both.
Son Lux is best know for his collaborations with Lorde on her remixed version ofLantern’s “Easy” for the Alternate Worlds EP, and with Serengeti and Sufjan Stevens asSisyphus (formerly s/s/s), who have just released a new album.
