We made it. The most buckwild year of fuckery America’s seen in our lifetimes is coming to a close, leaving behind a kaleidoscope of musical gems and unexpected new loves among the cultural and sociopolitical wreckage. Here’s a look through the lens at the Top 10 Albums of 2018, as well as an investigation into why Christmas music is almost entirely stuck in the rosy haze of the post-World War II era. We’ve been trapped in a vortex of baby boomer nostalgia for seven decades, celebrating the same dozen or so songs from an era where segregation and a $.75 minimum wage was the norm.
