AC/DC Officially Announces Rock Or Bust

Published: September 26, 2014

Sad news, good news, and some not entirely unexpected news came from the AC/DC camp today. First was the announcement that the band’s not-so-secret new album would be entitled Rock Or Bust and would be out on December 2nd this year. The band’s last album, Black Ice, came out back in 2008 and those of us here at Antiquiet liked it a whole bunch. Baseball fans will get the chance to hear the first new song from the album,Play Ball, early when it premiers as part of MLB’s promotional campaign for the 2014 playoffs.

On the sadder side of things, but also not totally unexpected, the band also announced Malcolm Young’s permanent departure from the group after he “took a break” earlier in the year for health-related reasons. Young was an important part of the group’s songwriting core and had been a founding member with his brother Angus. But on the lighter side of the sadder side of things, his nephew Stevie Young, already experienced in filling in with the band, will take over for him when the group tours in recognition of its 40th anniversary next year. No other information is available, but you can bet more tour details and new songs will drift out as the release date and the new tour approach.
