Pissed Jeans / Latchkey Lights / Weeping Icon @ BK Bazaar – 2.24.17

I’ll pay good money any day of the week to have Matt Korvette yell at me and so would Joseph and that’s why we’ve committed our bones to spend an unseasonable shimmering evening out in BK at “that joint with the terrible toilets and the weird-ass mirrors everywhere” with the kids getting wet and sweaty to the sweet, sweet grooves of PA’s preeminently shameless aging punk RAWK perspective machine who, apparently, have a record out today called Why Love Now.

Good for them.

Weeping Icon

I have the feeling I’m going to be seeing a lot of Weeping Icon this year. Makes sense. They’ve got the New York noise down dirty and dissonant without going the route of the knob-needling dude in a black metal shirt and black on black Yankees cap. Frankly, they’re about as refreshing as ear-splitting can be and never once evoke the sense that they hate their craft or audience. In fact, they seem to actually enjoy making their scorching racket almost as much as I enjoy fawning over special needs puppies.

Latchkey Lights

Oh, okay. This is the band with the dudes from The Explosion and The Vapers and Glass Rifle. I thought I’d heard of them. Pretty readyset rock and roll (a little punk, a little blues) with a ravenesque swooner all up in her soulful Siouxsie Sioux. A perfectly decent band, to be sure but one a little ill-suited for the bill.

Pissed Jeans

Dear Pissed Jeans,

How do you hurt so good?

XOX

-Me (and probably Joseph)
