To celebrate national Music In Our Schools Month, Little Kids Rock — a national nonprofit dedicated to expanding music education in disadvantaged public schools nationwide — teamed up with KORN guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer and the Hot Topic Foundation to deliver 20 new musical instruments to McKinley School in Pasadena, California on Wednesday, March 25. Little Kids Rock is the nation's leading nonprofit provider of popular music instruction, instruments and curricula to nearly 1300 public schools in 30 cities, having served more than 325,000 children. In Los Angeles and Pasadena, Little Kids Rock programs reach nearly 13,000 students in more than 150 schools with weekly music lessons rooted in popular music genres like rock, funk, pop, reggae and others. The Hot Topic Foundation, Little Kids Rock's all-time largest funder, has contributed more than $1.2 million to Little Kids Rock since 2005 and plans to make a sizeable investment this year. "Hot Topic and the Hot Topic Foundation have been honored and proud to be a part of the success and expansion of Little Kids Rock," says Hot Topic Foundation board member Joe Emory. "All of us in the company have such a passion and love for music; the mission of Little Kids Rock has always fit right in with us. I do believe Little Kids Rock was one of the first foundations we supported and I know the partnership will last many more years." To add an extra level of excitement, Munky shredded alongside the students who have been learning to play through Little Kids Rock's free program. They performed THE BEATLES' "Eleanor Rigby" and Michael Jackson's "Beat It".
