The Producers of the Original 'It' Miniseries Are Suing the Producers of the 'It' Movies

While fans await the arrival of IT: Chapter Two, it's important to remember that Stephen King's classic novel was once a bizarre TV miniseries starring Tim Curry. In fact, a producer of that series claims he was contractually obligated to work on the new movies, so now he's suing Warner Bros.
Larry Sanitsky served as a producer on the original series alongside Frank Konigsberg. According to a new lawsuit from Sanitsky, the pair signed a deal guaranteeing they would have backend participation and rights to involvement on sequels, spinoffs or remakes in the future.
As Variety reports, the deal signed by Konigsberg and Sanitsky made them "non exclusive executive producers." The lawsuit alleges that they were promised 10 percent of net profits on any remake. The first IT remake made $700 million USD worldwide.
Konigsberg died in 2016, but Sanitsky is currently pursuing the case. Warner Bros. declined to comment.
