Rage Against the Machine Officially Surrender in the Fight Against Capitalism with Their Own Black Friday Sale

Published: November 24, 2017
Throughout their all-too-short career, Rage Against the Machine played a role in shaping the minds of listeners by highlighting corporate greed, cultural imperialism and government ineptitude through their socially conscious, overtly political lyrics. While the band's messages will undoubtedly live on in their music, they sure as hell don't on the internet.

Like it or not, the band are having their very own Black Friday sale, offering 25 percent off all merch until the beginning of next week. You can outfit yourself with threads that bear Che Guevara's face or a molotov-toting Lady Liberty

What's more, you can earn yourself a discount when you use the promo code "MOLOTOV," truly demonstrating the power of words. In the rhetorical words of Zack de la Rocha, "What better place than here? What better time than now?"

In fairness to the band, it isn't the first time they've been questioned on how their politics align with their standing as major label musicians, while various Twitter users pointed out that the band's label Sony is likely behind the promo.

Guitarist Tom Morello addressed their seemingly hypocritical position back in 2007 as follows:

When you live in a capitalistic society, the currency of the dissemination of information goes through capitalistic channels. Would Noam Chomsky object to his works being sold at Barnes & Noble? No, because that's where people buy their books. We're not interested in preaching to just the converted. It's great to play abandoned squats run by anarchists, but it's also great to be able to reach people with a revolutionary message, people from Granada Hills to Stuttgart.

You can find the band's store here should you wish to take part in some Black Friday spending, but we'd also recommend logging off and going outside.
