Professional screen pirate Johnny Depp appeared at Glastonbury last night (June 22), riling up controversy with his remarks about U.S. president Donald Trump.
While addressing a crowd during the festival, the Hollywood star asked "Can we bring Trump here?" and was met with an onslaught of boos.
He then quipped, "When was the last time an actor assassinated a president?"
"I want to clarify, I'm not an actor," he continued with a smirk. "I lie for a living."
American history buffs may note that Depp's comments call to mind the sentiment of another notorious actor — John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Abraham Lincoln at Ford's Theatre in 1865.
