Gordon Lightfoot to Release His First New Music in over a Decade

Esteemed Canadian singer-songwriter (and neighbour to Aubrey Graham) Gordon Lightfoot last released a proper studio LP in 2004. Twelve years on, the artist is set to release a new song to fans next month.

A single titled "Plans of My Own" will see release on November 18 on all streaming services. Recorded in 2001, the track reportedly "showcases Lightfoot on his signature 12 string guitar and singing at his best."

The release coincides with a string of tour dates for Lightfoot, including a four-night stand at Massey Hall in Toronto on November 23, 24, 25 and 26. As of press time, there hasn't been a mention of a feature appearance from his new neighbour.

Along with "Plans of My Own," Warner Music Canada will also reissue Lightfoot's 1976 album Summertime Dream on 180-gram vinyl for Black Friday. Noted for containing Lightfoot's celebrated tune "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald," the reissue will include a track titled "Betty Called Me In" that was left off the original release.
