Between the Buried and Me now hold the distinction of having a member of the natural world named in their honour.
As
Lambgoat reports, a fossil of a new species of brittle star (an ancient cousin of the star fish) discovered in South Carolina has been named
Amphilimna intersepultosetme, the literal Latin translation of Between the Buried and Me.
The creature, which lived 67 million years ago, was discovered in fossil form by paleontologists John Jagt, Lea Numberger-Thuy and Ben Thuy of the Natural History Museum in Luxembourg.
Between the Buried and Me bassist Dan Briggs told
Lambgoat that the band "are honoured to have been thought of alongside this little magical creature who swam in the waters of the Carolinas many years before us and we'll be linked together for many years to come."
