Eighteen Visions Return with Reunion Album 'XVIII,' Premiere New Song
Published: April 20, 2017
Exactly 10 years ago today, Orange County metalcore pioneers Eighteen Visions took the stage for what was then their last show. On that decade anniversary of their death, the band have announced a reunion album, shared a new song and revealed their return to the stage.
Called XVIII, the record is due out on June 2 via Rise Records. On that same day, vocalist James Hart, guitarist Keith Barney and drummer Trevor Friedrich will take the stage at the Observatory in Orange County, CA, to celebrate the album's release.
"XVIII, the reunited and reenergized band's first new album in over a decade, is both mission statement and battle cry," states a press release. "It's a blistering, dense, and diverse album."
If lead single "Oath" is any indication, the album finds the band returning to their heavier early sound exhibited on releases like Until the Ink Runs Out and early-years compilation The Best Of, rather than the hard rock sound they favoured toward the end of their original run. Yes, there are chugs-a-plenty and piercing dissonant chords throughout, and it's great.
XVIII can be pre-ordered here. Check out the tracklisting for XVIII below, where you'll also hear "Oath."
