Shannon Noll Is Still Angry About That “Bullshit” Beer Can Incident

Published: August 19, 2018

After apologising last month for lashing out at a fan who threw a beer can at him mid-concert at a regional NSW gig, Shannon Noll has doubled-down and defended his actions, calling the surrounding media attention “bullshit”.

In July, the Australian Idol alum made headlines for an aggressive on-stage speech he made at a gig at Nyngan’s Duck Creek Races after a beer can just missed his head.

In video footage, you can hear him call the offender a “fuck-head in a tie” and a “fucking private school stupid fucking motherfucker,” before issuing a challenge to fight.

“Whoever threw that come up here and I’ll meet you over there,” he yelled. “Have some fucking balls and get up ‘ere and I’ll punch your fucking teeth down your throat out the back…dog-arse prick.

“Then I’ll fuck ya missus and ya mum.”

“I’ll give someone one hundred bucks to punch that fuck for me.”

In the wake of subsequent media attention, Noll soon apologised via Facebook for his behaviour and language. Noll wrote he was “rattled” by the experience, given that a band member had once been “seriously hurt” when a firecracker was hurled on stage.

Now, at a gig this weekend at the Penrith Panthers Leagues Club, Noll has continued to couch his actions. In video captured by News Corp, Noll talks in-between songs about being pushed into provocation by many projectiles

“[The media] made it out like it was one can,” he said. “We were there for 80 minutes and it was 35 cans thrown at us, so it wasn’t just the one that was reported, you know what I mean?”

“We stayed out there because we knew the event would suffer. We were trying to do the right thing putting up for it. But when a flying can’s coming at your forehead about 15 times, you start to get a jacked of it by the end.”

He then thanked the crowd for “not reading into that bullshit, and coming out like the legends you are.”

As News Corp reports, Noll again touched upon the incident later in the show in a prelude to ‘Lift’.

“This song’s done more good than any of you big-mouthed wankers will ever do with their whole friggin’ lives, so I don’t care,” he said while giving a two-finger salute. “They can say whatever they want.”

Noll’s current national Unbreakable tour continues into December.
