In April 2004, Sam Phillips released the second of what would become a trio of excellent albums for Nonesuch Records, A Boot And A Shoe. It's an album that was aptly described by the Los Angeles Times as delivering "deft, powerful strokes" and Billboard proclaimed it: "A disc of graceful beauty".

You may recognize its' sixth track, the stunning "Reflecting Light" from a now iconic scene in Netflix's 2016 relaunch of Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life just released on DVD and Blu-ray this week! This gem was also featured in the 2009 film and soundtrack to, Crazy Heart. The film earned Jeff Bridges an Academy Award for Best Actor and is one of our all-time faves. Sam sings and plays guitar, T Bone Burnett plays bass, it's Patrick Warren on piano and pump organ and the great Section Quartet (Eric Gorfain/violin, Daphne Chen/violin, Richard Dodd/cello, Leah Katz/viola) on strings.
Not that I've worn out, I've worn out the world
I'm on my knees in fascination
Looking through the night
And the moon's never seen me before
But I'm reflecting light
