A tabloid cover story about how Meghan Markle has “tamed” Prince Harry was made-up. Gossip Cop can bust the report. It’s not just manufactured, but also misleading.

The new cover of OK! exclaims, “Palace Aides Tell All: How Meghan Saved Harry’s Life!” It’s a rather dramatic teaser that’s thoroughly unsupported. Not to mention, no real “palace aides” would be dishing to a U.S. gossip magazine. Nevertheless, the story inside the issue is headlined, “How Meghan Tamed Harry.” It’s asserted, “Thanks to the calming influence of his bride-to-be… Prince Harry has gone from wild to mild, and the palace is thrilled.”

The outlet alleges that while Markle has seemingly given up a lot for her relationship with the red-headed royal, it’s Prince Harry who has “done the most bending, and all at Meghan’s behest.” A so-called “source” is quoted as saying he’s “a totally different person now, and it’s all because of Meghan.” Claims this supposed snitch, “He used to be completely wrapped up in the pursuit of having fun and partying. Now his main focus is getting married and becoming a family man.”

A different alleged “source” maintains, “He’s never had the slightest inclination to change his behavior or shift his perspective until now.” As evidence, the publication points to Prince Harry deciding not to participate in an annual Boxing Day hunt since Markle is an animal lover who does not support the pastime. Contends the tabloid, “Harry hasn’t just ditched his hunting habit. Sources say the heir has had bid a boatload of impish behaviors goodbye.”

The magazine then lists various scandals Prince Harry was caught up in over the years, such as his infamous strip pool game in Las Vegas back in 2012. “He’s really grown up since they started dating. Now he’d much rather spend a quiet evening at home than a crazy night out boozing with his buddies,” a purported “insider” supposedly asserts. But the outlet goes on to undermine its main premise by stating, “Harry had already started prioritizing philanthropy over partying by the time he met his future wife.”

Why, then, does the rest of article attribute Prince Harry’s lack of partying solely to Markle’s supposed influence? The whole piece is about how she’s supposedly “tamed” him, yet the publication ends up admitting he was already changing his ways “by the time” they met. Indeed, he started the Invictus Games, an Olympic-style competition for wounded veterans, in 2014, two years before he and Markle even began dating. And while the tabloid describes Prince Harry as a “once-wayward playboy who kept his family on their royal toes,” he actually hasn’t been involved in any controversies for years.

It seems the same magazine that falsely claimed Markle was pregnant in October, using an old photo to try to trick readers into thinking she had a baby bump, just wanted another sensational, dramatic cover to sell. And what’s more sensational and dramatic than claiming the actress “saved Harry’s life”? There’s no disputing Markle is good for Prince Harry just as she is for him. But however much he’s reformed, that process began before she entered the picture. And though this is a heartwarming tale overall, it’s still an inexcusable one because it was made-up. Gossip Cop is told no “palace aides” actually commented for this cover story.
