San Francisco noisy grunge indie rockers DOUBLE SKELETON premiere new EP

Published: April 27, 2017
San Francisco grungy, shoegazin’ indie rock trio DOUBLE SKELETON have teamed up with Conditions Records to give you their new EP, offered on tape format and available for streaming below! “No World” does not create anything cataclysmically new, but it surely avoids downright imitation of their source inspirations and ingredients. DOUBLE SKELETON capture a broad swathe of shoegazin’ rock, grunge and organic, raw indie rock in their own style.

The band commented:

“No World” is our first record. It was intended as an EP but morphed into a 33 minute mini-album. Calling it an EP at that length doesn’t seem quite right….The songs are in someways disparate but unify under some common musical and lyrical themes. Vincent wrote most of these songs thinking of the self-destructive tendencies we face as individuals and as a society at large. No World is meant to be said as an imperative (as if saying no to the world) and in reference to a place that isn’t there anymore….probably because we blew it up. We didn’t start with any kind of big picture concept, but there is certainly a cohesive thought within.

The record was tracked, engineered and mixed by Monte Vallier @ Ruminator Audio in San Francisco, CA, and mastered by John McBain.

Double Skeleton is a grungey and sometimes shoegazey indie rock band from San Francisco, CA. Founding members Daniel Pierce and Vincent Flores met while both living on Florida’s space coast in Brevard County in 2011. Finding they had a common interest in post-harcore and sludge bands of the 80’s and early 90’s like The Jesus Lizard and Melvins, their friendship quickly turned into discussions of starting a band. They moved to the Bay Area about a year later and started writing music and playing in various groups. A few projects later they formed Double Skeleton. In early 2015 they were joined by guitarist Joe Putnam and bass player Francis Ray and recorded a five song demo that was released the following spring. The demo and shows that followed earned the band comparisons to bands like “Dinosaur Jr. and the aggression of something like Pegboy with a ballad-y approach to noise punk abrasiveness” [-MRR]. Francis eventually left the band, and Double Skeleton became a three-piece. Right away they went to work writing their first record. The resulting seven songs were recorded with Monte Vallier at his studio in San Francisco in the fall and winter of 2016. Titled “No World”, it was released as a mini-album on cassette in April 2017 by Conditions Records.

DOUBLE SKELETON are teaming up with their pals from REVOLUTION BUMMER  for The Double Bummer Tour this May! Speaking about this trek, they offered: the following:

We are excited to be going on tour next month with my and Daniel’s other band, Revolution Bummer. The tour will be just over a week long and goes to Sacramento, Portland, Reno, LA, San Jose and San Luis Obispo. Our tour kick off and tape release will be at Bottom of the Hill in San Francisco on May 10. Also playing are our good friends C’est Dommage and Long Knives. There are future plans of continuous touring with many more Bay Area shows to come. We are also mixing an EP that should be out later this year and working on songs for another reord. Standby!
