Event Preview: The Lone Bellow at Lowell Summer Music Series

As festival season begins to slip away, there’s an empty feeling left in us east-coast festival goers that seems destined to remain empty until spring. But wait! There is hope! The Lowell Summer Music Series is a festival-style series that takes place every summer (obviously) in…you guessed it…Lowell, MA! It’s one of those New England hidden gems that really shouldn’t be a hidden gem. The talent they get is on par or better than Blue Hills and the ticket prices are always reasonable.

If you don’t believe us, check out Friday’s 8/12 show: The Lone Bellow will be performing Brynn Elliott for only $32 bux. I’ve had the opportunity to see The Lone Bellow half a dozen times and have never been disappointed. Better yet, these guys are made for outdoor venues like Lowell Summer Music Series. If you’re lookin’ for a perfect Friday date night or trip from Boston with a few friends, this is a guaranteed awesome experience.

Other Reasons To Go

Not persuaded by the band? Here are some other reasons to attend:

Food: Yeah the food options at the Lowell Summer Music Series are out of this world. And the best part is that it’s all affordable. Theses folks don’t just rip you off for the the sake of it. Burritos are only 7 bux. Steal. Here’s the full menu.

No online Ticket fees: Okay this is a small one, but I just love the fact that they don’t rip you off just because you buy your tickets online. We gotta give them props for not going with Ticketmaster.

Visit Jack Kerouac museum: Yes this is insanely nerdy. But we’re not apologizing. If you have the time before the show, check out The Mill Girl & Immigrants Exhibit, a part of Lowell National Historical Park, located at the Mogan Cultural Center, 40 French Street. It features a display of Kerouac artifacts, including a typewriter and backpack. I mean come on hipsters, how can you say no to this stuff!
