Hailing all the way from Manchester, UK, progressive/groove metal powerhouses Prognosis are a band on the up and up. Having been described as “Mastodon playing Carcass” the band draws influence from artists like Dream Theater, Muse, Jeff Loomis, and Death, (just to name a few), and combines these subtle elements with their own unique blend of thrashy, aggressive music to create something truly special. And as an example of their special brand of metal, we are beyond excited to premiere this music video for the song “High Road”, which is the first single off the band’s debut LP Definition (out September 21st, 2018), only right here, on Gear Gods!
The video showcases the band at their rawest and demonstrates just how versatile their sound is. Crushing grooves, melodic harmonic choices, relentless riffage, shred-tastic guitar solos all amount to a song that demands 100% of your attention. There’s a lot to unpack in the short 5 minutes and 32 seconds that make up this song, and although it feels like the band could just keep things jamming for another 10 minutes if they really wanted, they know when the tune has done its job and end things on a high note without giving too much away. Now that’s a sign of a band that knows a thing or two about songwriting, and we can’t wait to hear the full LP when it drops.
