This Week in Music & More

Published: April 17, 2015

Ladies and gentlemen, sirs and madams, dukes and duchesses, hackers and hackesses.

That felt fancy, lets keep it up! Once again hath come to pass the hour upon which thou shall receive thy dutiful reportage of yonder seven days. Behold, for aught that hath transpired within the realm of music shall henceforth be tallied wherein.

Never mind, that was exhausting. This week marked the 15th (15th!!) anniversary of Metallica suing the ever-loving bejeezus out of Napster. So there’s a seminal moment in music history for ya. (Hypebot)

Errybody’s talking about Apple right now, and the rumored launch of “new” Beats in June. (Billboard)

Tidal appears to be in over its head (one might say drowning) in backlash. (Billboard)

Kanye topped the Time 100 Most influential list, and Elon Musk wrote him a very public love note. (Time)

I much prefer this love letter to Kanye. (Medium)

Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame induction time is coming up, and Pandora shared some fun stats. (Billboard)

We know Absolut is working on some music activations that involve Google Cardboard, and apparently it is all the rage for liquor brands these days. Drunk people mindlessly entertained by Virtual Reality? No way. (Adweek)

Some of you may have seen this already, it came out last week. I can’t listen to it, cause that’s so awkward (*cringes uncomfortably at sound of own voice*). I did however read through and see they spelled my name wrong. C’est la vie. Feel free to listen and tell me if I said something stupid. (Hypebot)

And Tyler Hayes, who covered us for Fast Company, asked if he could interview me about data journalism. He did. And that was nice of him. (Smashd)

See you here next week. Same time, same place.
