Nike’s 2018 Doernbecher Freestyle Collection Can be Copped at StockX If You Missed Out

Published: December 15, 2018

Every year, for the past 15 years, Nike has joined forces with the OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland, Oregon to deliver its Doernbecher Freestyle collection. Following the pack’s official release on December 14, some of the most popular designs can now be secured at StockX if you missed out at retail.

As with every year, Nike designers and developers have worked with six children hosted at the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital to create bespoke sneaker and apparel designs. While the 2017 Doernbecher Freestyle collection featured SB Zooms, Air Vapormax, and Air Huaraches, among others, this time around we’re being introduced to new colorways of the Air Jordan 15, SB Dunk Low, Zoom Fly SP, Air Max 97, Air Force 1 Low, and Air Max 270.

If you missed out on the chance to cop at retail, but would still like to show your support to the cause by rocking the designs, below we’ve rounded up some of our favorite sneakers from the 2018 collection — the SB Dunk Low, the Zoom Fly SP, and the Air Jordan 15 — each now available at StockX. Furthermore, if you’d like to contribute to the fundraising initiative of the collaboration, you can do so here.

Designed by 12-year-old Joey Bates, who was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, these SB Dunk Lows come in an eye-catching gold and green colorway, representing Joey’s favorite NFL team — the Green Bay Packers. Joey also happens to love chicken, hence why the sneakers sport a chicken logo embossed at the heel, along with a faux turtle shell pattern to mimick his favorite figurine.

This colorful pair was designed by Payton Fentress, who’s currently battling Crohn’s disease. Inspired by his love for sports, these Zoom Fly SPs are like a walking hall of fame, with details paying homage to championship dates and other important moments of the 12-year-old’s favorite teams — the Portland Trail Blazers and the Chicago Cubs.

Inspired by his favorite anime, these Air Jordan 15s are the creation of 11-year-old Donovon Dinneen, who underwent a quadruple amputation due to a rare meningococcal infection. The sleek pair features a luxurious suede upper with embossed dragon details, as well as gold-colored details representing Donovan’s birthday and the Japanese symbol for protection.
