Mineral Reuniting for First Shows in 17 Years

It's a very good year for emo reunions. Following a new Sunny Day Real Estate songandthe announcement of American Football's shows, not to mention a new Jazz June song, the Texan mid-1990s outfit Mineral are reuniting this fall for their first shows in 17 years.

The reunion marks the 20th anniversary of the band's formation. Chris Simpson, Jeremy Gomez, Gabriel Wiley, and Scott McCarver released two albums before disbanding in 1998: 1995'sThe Power of Failing and 1998'sEndSerenading. Simpson and Gomez went on to play in the Gloria Record, while Wiley formed Pop Unknown.

Simpson wrote a statement about the band's reunion:

Reconnecting with each other and this material for the first time in 17 years has been a real joy and pleasure. The shows will be the icing on the cake. We are grateful for the opportunity and looking forward to getting to play for all the people who have loved us all along as well as the many who have discovered us posthumously along the way.
