Global News to Air Extensive Live Coverage of the U.S. Election with America Votes 2016

VANCOUVER – After the most contentious campaign in memory, Global News has assembled a leading team of political journalists, experts and analysts for the U.S. election to provide viewers with extensive America Votes 2016 coverage.

The West Block kicks things off with a special broadcast from Washington, D.C. on Sunday, November 6 at 10 a.m. PT/MT11 a.m. ET/CT and 12 p.m. ATTom ClarkGlobal News’ Chief Political Correspondent and host of The West Block will provide contextual analysis on the closing hours of the campaign, including the latest poll numbers and a look at how results might affect Canadians and their pocketbooks.

Beginning Monday, November 7 and continuing through Wednesday, November 9,Dawna Friesen, host of the network’s award-winning flagship newscast, continues the special America Votes 2016 coverage, anchoring Global National from the U.S. capital at 5:30 p.m. PT/MT/CT and 6:30 ET/AT. The Global National team is back on the air from Washington late Tuesday evening with live updates into all of Global’s late-night newscasts as the bitter contest is finally decided.

On Globalnews.ca, Senior National Affairs Correspondent Eric Sorensen will host a special live web program on election night, offering viewers instant analysis of the latest results.  The webcast, which begins at 8 p.m. ET on Tuesday, will also be live-streamed on Facebook and YouTube. Globalnews.ca’s live interactive election results, powered by The Associated Press, will be complimented by a team of online journalists providing up to the minute contextual articles and videos.
