SERIES EXPANDS TO 770 CHQR IN CALGARY

CALGARY, Canada – A new Mayors Day series hits the Calgary airwaves on 770 CHQR starting Tuesday, May 29. The day is dedicated to providing timely, localized conversations to the station’s expansive community listenership.

Mayors from across the Calgary region will join 770 CHQR’s talk programs to co-host for one hour each, discussing the top concerns of their constituents.

“Global News Radio is proud to actively serve the communities in which we live and work,” said Kenton Boston, Vice-President, News and Information for Western Canada, Corus Entertainment. “Our Mayors Day series is the only one of its kind, providing our audiences with the answers they need on important municipal issues.”

770 CHQR’s first Mayors Day on Tuesday, May 29 runs as follows:

• 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. – His Worship Bill Robertson, Mayor of Okotoks, co-hosts Danielle Smith.
• 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. – His Worship Peter Brown, Mayor of Airdrie, co-hosts Afternoons with Rob Breakenridge.
• 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. – His Worship Jeff Genung, Mayor of Cochrane, co-hosts Calgary Today with Angela Kokott.

Highlights and excerpts from Mayors Day will also be broadcast on Global Calgary’s News Hour at 6, and will available to listen on-demand at globalnews.ca.

Global News Radio’s Mayors Day series first launched in April on Vancouver’s 980 CKNW. More information about the monthly B.C. series can be found at cknw.com.
