GREAT NEWS FOR A MONDAY: Polyvinyl has *officially* joined forces with stellar Brooklyn label, Double Double Whammy, to bring you not only a STACKED SXSW Showcase at Cheer Up Charlie's on March 15th, but a really dope partnership as well. You can find for more details on our blessed union below.
But back to SXSW – we'll be partying with our new friends from dusk (7pm) till dawn (2am?), featuring White Reaper, Post Animal, and Anna Burch from PV and Hovvdy, Hatchie, and Lomelda from DDW. You do need a wristband or badge to attend, however, a small number of tickets will be available at the door night of show, so get there early if you want a fighting chance!

HOT OFF THE PRESS/FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Independent labels Polyvinyl Record Co. and Double Double Whammy have announced an exclusive partnership, with Polyvinyl providing distribution, accounting, webstore fulfillment, and other shared services. Through this partnership, Double Double Whammy will operate autonomously, continuing their reputation of signing artists and releasing expertly curated new music.
Double Double Whammy is a Brooklyn, NY based record label founded by Mike Caridi and Dave Benton in 2011. The two started by releasing tapes for their own project LVL UP, along with local bands at SUNY Purchase – a liberal arts college they both attended in upstate New York. After both graduating in 2013, the label relocated to Brooklyn, and expanded their reach to work primarily with New York based artists including Frankie Cosmos, Florist, and Ó – quickly growing a catalog of now more than 45 releases. In 2016, Benton amicably left the label to pursue his artistry, and in late 2017, Double Double Whammy established a partnership with Polyvinyl Record Company. “Polyvinyl is a label who released key records that shaped my interest in indie rock throughout my most formative years of high school and college," said Mike Caridi. "Their history and ethos as a label so closely aligns with that of Double Double Whammy’s, and they’ve shown such support and excitement in what DDW has done over the past several years; I couldn’t be more excited or think of a label I’d rather be working with.”
Polyvinyl Record Co. is an American independent record label based in Champaign, Illinois with offices in New York City and the San Francisco Bay Area. Founded in 1996, Polyvinyl has released notable records by Alvvays, American Football, Beach Slang, Deerhoof, Japandroids, Jay Som, Jeff Rosenstock, of Montreal, Palehound, White Reaper, Xiu Xiu, and many others. “Over the the past few years, several of us at Polyvinyl have been fans of Double Double Whammy,” says label co-founder, Matt Lunsford. “Last year when we met Mike and started discussing a partnership, the connection was immediate – DDW has a strong independent sprint and a passion for working together with artists they believe in. I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to help Double Double Whammy grow.”
Next month, both labels will officially celebrate their partnership with a joint SXSW showcase that'll include DDW artists Lomelda, Hatchie, and Hovvdy, along with Polyvinyl artists Anna Burch, Post Animal, White Reaper, and more.
