Tracks of the Week: Lazy Days in Los Angeles

Published: June 22, 2017

“What are you doing now that you’re no longer in college?”

Today marks day three of my post-grad life. In these glorious 72 hours, I’ve managed to sleep for fifteen hours in one night, I beat my record for most tacos ever consumed in one sitting: ten, and I hung out with my grandma. There’s something nice about suddenly having free time. I threw away my planner, something you didn’t see me without in college, and I’ve just been lounging around. I literally sat outside all day yesterday under a tree and it was the most peace I’ve felt in like 2 years! If this is what adult life is like, hell yeah I’m down for this.

This week we’ve got some tracks to encourage a relaxed setting including the new LCAW, Washed Out, Twinsmith & more. This is dedicated to those who want to expel the least amount of energy they need to have a good time.

1. LCAW – “Nobody Else But You”:

This is the perfect song to sit on one of those camper chairs, cold beer in one hand, mini fan in the other, and do absolutely nothing during high noon. LCAW’s “Nobody Else Like You” funky, syncopated rhythms give me the energy to grab another drink.

2. Washed Out – “Hard to Say Goodbye”:

What better way to get chill than listening to chillwave. Washed Out’s “Hard to Say Goodbye” is a different direction for him, yet keeps his quintessential sound. The full album comes out this Friday.

3. Twinsmith – “You &  I”:

Up and comers Twinsmith just released “You & I”, a bouncy synthpop track that has all the elements for your next summer playlist. This track is the single for their upcoming LP, coincidentally named “Stay Cool”, out July 14th.

4. Chad VanGaalen – “Old Heads”:

“Old Heads” by Chad VanGaalen is a refreshing track to the alternative genre, a lot of sci-fi sounds can be heard. At this point of the lazy day, this is the track that should be playing as you are putting everything away from your day long lounge session.

5. Soccer Mommy – “Allison”:

“Allison” by Soccer Mommy is the final track necessary as you switch the lazy sessions to your bed. It’s mellow and soothing, just what I need after doing absolutely nothing all day.
