Red Bull Music Academy in association with Your’s Truly provide an informative and intriguing insight into the birth of West Coast Hip-Hop. Unlike the majority of Hip-Hop documentaries, that tend to focus on Dr Dre, NWA Gangster rap and Flash, ‘Pioneers of the Modern Party’ endeavours to delve a little deeper and farther back.
At only 17 minutes it’s a swift watch, yet despite its short run time you still get a palpable sense of how pioneering and thrilling it would have been to attend an Uncle Jamm’s Army party.
