Clark to Release His Score for Heist Drama ‘The Last Panthers’ as an Album

Published: January 27, 2016

Back in November, Clark was tapped by director Johan Renck to score UK television mini-series The Last Panthers. Ahead of the show’s US premiere this spring, the Warp mainstay has announced he will be releasing the soundtrack as an album.

The fictional series, inspired by jewel thieves the Pink Panthers, premiered overseas this past fall. Having Clark compose the score was a natural fit, as his brooding and effortlessly cinematic productions supplement the crime drama’s suspenseful nature and muted color scheme. The album will have 19 tracks, many with brow-raising titles including “Chloroform Sauna,” “Strangled to Death in a Public Toilet,” and “Brother Killer.”

“I’ve never worked on anything like this before and it’s probably the most exciting/fun/at times panic inducing thing I’ve ever done,” said Clark at the start of the project. “The narrative of the show is vast, deep. It spans many different eras in the characters lives, so it needed to be coherent. The intention was to make the unfolding stories of the characters seem lucid and effortless. Seeing the show get edited down to this concise, six-part slab of dramatic excellence was inspiring, and definitely helped the music stay fresh.”
