Crusty UK black metal trio Jøtnarr will be releasing their new EP ‘Burn And Bury’ next month, and they’ve just given us the first taste of it with new song ‘Rise By Sin’…
Hailing from Colchester, the three piece made a big impression with their demo and ‘Divide The Growth And Stone’ EP. The band manage to fuse black metal’s scathing, evil atmosphere with a belligerent punk backbone and some deliciously dense riffs that can only really be described as “fucking massive”. And before all you cynics stick your oar in, yes, there’s no shortage of bands playing Immortal riffs over d-beats right now and yes, “blackened crust” sounds more like a badly burnt bit of toast than something you’d want to let anywhere near your stereo, but hear us out out; these guys tie these two sounds together in a way that feels much more organic, interesting and visceral than many of their contemporaries.
We’re stoked to hear what they’ve got in store for us with their new four track EP, ‘Burn And Bury’ – if it’s all as good as ‘Rise By Sin’, then we’ve got a treat in store…
‘Burn And Bury’ is due to be released in April on 12″ vinyl via Vetala, React With Protest and Superfi, and on CD and tape via Prismatik
