Providence based black metallers Sandworm have teamed up with nightmarish sludge duo The Body for a split release, and you can hear a brand new song from it right here…
The Body and Sandworm are two bands with roots in the Providence underground that take unbridled negativity and spin it in opposite directions. Whilst you’re probably already familiar with The Body’s ungodly sludge emanations, the name Sandworm could well be new to you. Another duo, comprised of Ben Eberle and Pat Reilly, this is the band’s first proper release and is a fantastic showcase for their raw, punky take on black metal.
Whilst The Body’s offering for this split, ‘The Manic Fire’, takes up a whole side of vinyl, Sandworm have instead opted for numerous short, sharp bursts of energy and the resulting contrast between the two is quite thrilling indeed. Both The Body and Sandworm recorded their contributions with Seth Manchester and Keith Souza at Machines With Magnets, one of Providences most respected studios and performance spaces.
The split will be released on vinyl only via Thrill Jockey on October 20th, and is available to pre-order here.
