Some of Seattle’s most notable grunge rockers celebrated the legacy of Mad Season during a one-off reunion concert in the Emerald City on Friday night.
Surviving Mad Season members Mike McCready and Barrett Martin were joined by Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell, Pearl Jam members Matt Cameron, Stone Gossard, and Jeff Ament, and Guns N’ Roses’ Duff McKagan, along with the Seattle Symphony Orchestra, in performing orchestral and solo arrangements of original Mad Season works. It marked the first official performance billed under the Mad Season banner since 1995.

The eight-song set opened with performances of “Long Gone Day”, “River of Deceit”, and “I Don’t Know Anything” featuring McCready and Martin performing alongside Cornell and McKagan. Cameron then came out for “Wake Up”, Walking Papers’ Jeff Angell guested for “Lifeless Dead”, and Cameron, Gossard, and Ament all appeared for “Call Me A Dog” and “Reach Down”. The performance conclude with “All Alone” featuring the original vocal recording of Mad Season’s late frontman Layne Staley.
