Listen: The Wilderness of Manitobas new song Leave Someone

Published: July 23, 2014

The Wilderness of Manitoba are a Toronto-based trio that specializes in making atmospheric folk-rock with a tinge of equal parts Fleet Foxes and Fleetwood Mac-inspired harmonies. They’re releasing a new album calledBetween Colours on September 16th via Pheromone Records. Produced by Joe Dunphy, the 10-track offering includes appearances from Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson, Rheostatics member Michael Phillip Wojewoda, and more. The album isdivided into halves, with the first five tracks signifying “day” and latter five representing “night.”

“Leave Someone” is the first preview of the record. The song plants itself firmly into the “Day” half of the record, not just with its track position but with its light folk-rock heavy melody. On the track, there’s infectious vocal interplay between singers Will Whitwham and Amanda Balsys, placing them as competitors to harmony-inclined acts like Milo Greene and Kopecky Family Band.
