Rihanna named Humanitarian of the Year by Harvard

Published: February 24, 2017

In a ceremony to be held on February 28th, Harvard will present its annual Humanitarian Award, and this year, the lucky recipient is quite likely the baddest bitch to ever receive the honour from the esteemed university… at least since Malala Yousafzai, anyway.

Yep, it’s Rihanna.

RiRi is receiving the Peter J. Gomes Humanitarian Award in recognition for her philanthropic efforts, including the funding of a state-of-the-art oncology center in her native Barbados, and the foundation of a scholarship named after her parents, Clara and Lionel, for students attending U.S. colleges from Caribbean nations. She also financially supports the Global Partnership for Education and Global Citizen Project, which aims to provide children with access to education in more than 60 developing nations.

Rihanna joins such previous winners of the award as Kofi Annan, Boutros Boutros-Ghali, Ban Ki-moon, none of whom have ever had a number-one single on the Billboard Hot 100, or sold over 200 million records…at least to my knowledge. Talk about a bunch of slackers!
